Counseling for girls (all ages)
You are not alone! Growing up girl in today’s world is challenging – even more so than when you were her age. Confusing friendships, challenging relationships, academic pressures, and social media…. This is a lot to navigate.
We teach girls to exercise the power of their voice and learn to harness their emotions.
At Warrenton Women’s Counseling Center, we focus on social – emotional development which we know to be the foundation of success for girls. Helping girls to understand themselves better and learn to make healthy choices is what we do! Girls have BIG emotions and need support in understanding, managing, and communicating how they feel. Most adults don’t know how to do this. By the way, we teach adults too.
Sometimes, girls are not willing to attend therapy sessions but after learning what we offer, the benefits of therapy can help change their mind. Our experienced counselors will help unveil dormant obstacles in a girls’ life. Further, our individual counseling sessions are always client-generated, and coach supported. Girls are provided a platform to express themselves in a safe, trustworthy, and judge-free environment. The therapist may serve as a trusted person, guiding you to explore and find solutions to personal or private issues. Together we establish goals, identify obstacles, and create strategies for change and success. We focus on a wide array of topics, including:
- Learning and practicing strong communication skills
- Transforming anxiety and depression through education and behavioral changes
- Building self-esteem, self-confidence, and resiliency
- Eating issues (orthorexia, body dysmorphia, binge eating, emotional eating, body image, negative cultural messages and more
- Dealing with difficult relationships and learning how to manage conflict
- Understanding emotions and practicing healthy coping skills
