Couples Counseling
Relationships don’t come with handbooks. The reality is that all couples struggle from time to time. However, some couples find themselves in a rut or a dark place and they don’t know how to make things better.
This is where a trained therapist can help.
Good News
Working with a trained counselor can help improve your relationship by teaching you the skills you need. Counseling helps couples take time out of their busy lives and come together to really focus on themselves. The counselor acts as a mediator between couples and facilitate healthy communication and effective change. Together you will learn to work through disagreements and other relationships issues, improve your emotional and physical intimacy and understand each other on a deeper level.
Relationship Counseling for One – What if he won’t come with you?
Let’s be honest – women are much more likely to seek counseling and therapy solo. Contrary to popular opinion, it’s perfectly ok if one partner does not attend counseling sessions. We teach action-oriented techniques and view “My partner won’t come with me” as an opportunity to confront that individual in ways that wouldn’t be possible if the other partner were present. Even when women attend our sessions alone, couples report greater happiness.
According to an article published in the Wall Street Journal, “At the University of Denver, unpublished results from a five-year longitudinal study of 300 long-term couples suggest that a month or so after receiving relationship-skills training, those who got it as individuals saw as much improvement in their relationships as those who got the training as a couple.”
Premarital Counseling
Another layer of relationship therapy is premarital counseling, helping to prepare couples as they enter into a long-term commitment. Couples develop a strong and fulfilling relationship prior to marriage and determine potential problems that may be problematic down the road. Premarital counseling also identifies realistic expectations and allows couples to learn and practice healthy communication skills, launching a marriage off to a solid start.
Some topics addressed during our counseling sessions include:

Relationship counseling can strengthen relationships by guiding individuals to effectively navigate difficult and challenging situations, to work through problems, and rise beyond them.
